I recently went to the opening night of Eighteen Percent Grey at CUBE Gallery in Manchester. This was the graduate show by the BA Photography students of Blackpool & The Fylde College. I studied on the BA Photography course at Blackpool, as well as doing two years prior to that studying the subject at ND level, so it’s something that is pretty close to my heart. I had the most amazing time and met some fantastic people during my time at the college.
My first thoughts were wow what a brilliant location, if you have never visited CUBE in Manchester, I suggest you do if you get the opportunity, it’s a really lovely, modern space. The exhibition was packed and the atmosphere was buzzing throughout the entire night, it was really good to catch up with some of my past tutors and some fellow students also! The standard of work was incredible, Blackpool’s students never fail to impress. Although it’s reputation precedes it, it’s clear that the graduating students are 110% committed to their work and eat, sleep and breathe creativity.
Some of my favourite pieces from the exhibition, click the images to go to the photographers’ personal websites:
